I am happy to announce the list of the actresses and actors selected for the play “Tus montes, mis versos” That will be presented at the Théâtre Municipal de Tunis the 18th of January 2019 at 7 pm.
Hassen Khammasi, Jamila Camara, Merva Toumi, Chedly Taghouti, Gliden Karina and Rachid Belaguili. The Spanish Actress is Yasmin Sadeghi. The direction assistant is Samed Miaadi. Text and direction Marco Magoa.

A play written and directed by Marco Magoa about the Tunisian entrepreneurs women, the Tunisian poetry and the Spanish poetry from the 20´s and the 30´s.

Produced by the Embassy of Spain in Tunis and the Institute Cervantes, Transglory and Green Tunisie. With the collaboration of the Thèâtre Municipal de Tunis, Espace Culturel Mdag Alhalfa and teatro4m.

Synopsis: After being betrayed by his partner, “No one” decides to travel to a country in the third world, in order to take revenge on his ex-boyfriend, but killing a stranger. He thinks that he will not to be discovered and that it will be easy to scape from justice. He meets a young man in the street. The young man goes to No one´s rented apartment thinking that they are going to have a sexual encounter…

This text is a metaphor of the use and abuses that the “First World” makes in the “Third World” and it´s the first text of a theater play about the human misery.

(OUR SEA. THE END OF YOUR DREAMS.)

Synopsis: We are about to meet Mahmoud, a Syrian young man. He took a boat three days ago from Libya to the island of Lampedusa, Italy. He can´t understand what happened at sea… He tries to remember, and through his memories we will know his life in Syria, his family, his dreams, friends, his love, ISIS, the mafia in Libya and Europe. What happened to him? Is Mahmoud a survivor..?

About the project: Since 2014, until this moment, more than 6000 people have lost their life at the Mediterranean sea. Most of them come from Syria, running away from the terrible war, from ISIS, from death… Young people, families, kids, babies, floating, dead, drowned at sea… Where are their dreams now?

Marco Magoa, the playwright and director, has presented a theater trilogy in three different continents. The 17th of September Marco Magoa presented at the Royal Cultural Center in Amman, Jordan, the performance El cielo y yo (The sky and I), first part of the trilogy. The second part Nada (Nothing) part was presented in Cairo, Egypt, the 5th of November. The government of Egypt cancelled this performance programed at a National Theater alleging political reasons. The play was finally presented in Cairo at a non governmental theater. The third part MARE NOSTRUM. FINIS SOMNIA VESTRA, it´s a monologue which world premier was in Copenhagen, Denmark, the 20th of January 2016. This monologue has also been presented in Jordan, Tunis, Spain and now in the EEUU.

Marco Magoa Bio (Madrid, 1972)

Studied one year of Drama in St. Louis, Missouri, EEUU and graduates in Drama in Spain. He has lived, studied and worked in USA, Italy, Morocco, Siria, Namibia, Egypt, Jordan, Denmark, Tunis and Spain. At the age of 25 is already playing a main role from the classical Spanish repertory from the 17th century. He has worked as a “Comical Tenor” at the “Compañía Lírica Nacional” in Spain, and has performed as an actor at “Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico”, “Teatro Real”, “Teatro Español”, “La fura del`s Baus” and “Compañía Lope de Vega”. In 2007 founded his own company teatro4m, performing until now in Spanish, English, portuguese and Arabic in several countries around the world. He has directed 14 plays.

I am glad to inform you that I have been invited by Mrs Marta Boris professor at Modern Languages and Cultures at University of Idaho to present this monologue at the Hartung Theater the 25th of August. The 24th I will give a lecture, to students from different faculties, in the University of Idaho about my theater projects in Africa, The Middle East and Europe. That week I will give a master class for students of the Theater Arts Department at University of Idaho as well.

SINOPSIS:

Estamos a punto de conocer a Mahmud, un hombre sirio huyó de su país hace dos años. Hace solo tres días se subió en un pequeño barco rumbo a la isla de Lampedusa. Acaba de ser rescatado en el mar y no comprende que ha ocurrido… A través de sus recuerdos conoceremos su vida en Siria, su familia, sus dos años en el campo de refugiados en Jordania, sus sueños… ¿Qué le ha sucedido?

Esta función que presentamos en el Patio de Comedias de Torralba de Calatrava ha sido representada anteriormente en Dinamarca, Jordania, Túnez y este verano se presentará en EEUU.
