THEATER PLAY

Synopsis:

We are about to meet Mahmoud, a Syrian young man. He took a boat three days ago from Libya to the island of Lampedusa, Italy. He can´t understand what happened at sea… He tries to remember, and through his memories we will know his life in Syria, his family, his dreams, friends, his love, ISIS, the mafia in Libya and Europe. What happened to him? Is Mahmoud a survivor..?

About the project:

Since 2014, until this moment, more than 5000 people have lost their lives at the Mediterranean sea. Most of them come from Syria, running away from the terrible war, from ISIS,from death… Young people, families, kids, babies, floating, dead, drowned at sea… Where are their dreams now?

Marco Magoa, the playwright and director, is presenting a trilogy in three countries (Jordan, Egypt and Denmark) in three different continents. The 17th of September Marco Magoa presented at the Royal Cultural Center in Amman, Jordan, the performance El cielo y yo (The sky and I), first part of the trilogy. The second part Nada (Nothing) part was presented in Cairo, Egypt, the 5th of November. The government of Egypt cancelled this performance programed at a National Theater alleging political reasons. The play was finally presented in Cairo at a non governmental theater. MARE NOSTRUM. FINIS SOMNIA VESTRA, it´s a monologue which world premier will be in Copenhagen, Denmark, the 20th of January 2016, is the third part of the trilogy. Mahmoud, a Syrian man who has just been rescued at the Mediterranean sea a few hours ago, tries to remember what happened at sea but he remembers his life, his past in Syria…

I monologen møder vi Mahmoud, en ung syrisk mand. For tre dage siden sejlede han fra Libyen til Italien. Han kan ikke helt begribe, hvad der skete på havet, så han forsøger at rekonstruere sine oplevelser.
Det er sådan vi bliver introduceret til hans liv i Syrien, hans familie, drømme, venner, ISIS og den libyske og europæiske mafia. Hvad skete der med Mahmoud? Overlevede han?

Siden 2014 har mere end 5.000 mennesker mistet livet på deres vej over Middelhavet. Mange er flygtet fra den forfærdelige krig i Syrien. Unge mennesker, familier, børn og babyer er druknet i havet.

Marco Magoa, manuskriptforfatter og instruktør vil fremføre monologen Mare Nostrum. I denne performance kan man møde afrikanske og arabiske overlevende, som nu er bosat i København, ligesom der vil være film og interviews produceret i de lande, folk er flygtet fra. Arrangementet er et samarbejde mellem Tampolinhuset, Teatro 4 M og Politiken Live.

2.- Trampoline House is an independent community center in Copehagen that provides refugees and asylum seekers in Denmark with a place of support, community, and purpose. Four days a week, the house offers different classes and activities, legal counseling, and friendship with the aim of breaking the social isolation and sense of powerlessness that many refugees and asylum seekers experience. Trampoline House brings together asylum seekers and Danish citizens, refugees and other residents of Denmark, united by a desire to improve the conditions for asylum seekers and refugees. We are a self-governing institution with a board of directors, a paid staff, and a large group of interns and volunteers. Financial support comes from public and private funding, donations, and memberships.
